I’m currently in Myanmar, participating in a mentoring program for women MPs, organised by the International Women’s Development Agency @iwda and local Myanmar women’s organisations. We’ve had three days so far of intensive political briefings, learning about Myanmar politics and Parliament and will be visiting the Parliament tomorrow.
Unfortunately there has been a delay in the selection of women who we are going to mentor, which has meant we aren’t able to meet with them one on one as planned on this trip. To overcome that in some way, today we recorded short videos to be shared with our potential mentees. We will connect up with them over video call and they will visit Australia in the middle of the year.
We’ve also spent time with one of the mentees from last year’s program Nan Moe, pictured here, and had the opportunity yesterday to support her local business enterprise, a massage and pedicure and manicure shop, where my feet received the most attention they have ever received in my whole life!
